Karen Church lives in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where she has a private practice in physical therapy. She is a dedicated yoga practitioner, teacher and photographer.

She has extensive post-graduate training in functional manual therapy and movement re-education. Her system of evaluation and treatment has been strongly influenced by Gregg Johnson, Physical Therapist and Director of the Institute of Physical Art, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Her interests in alignment and muscle balance led to studying yoga with numerous Senior Iyengar teachers; John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga; and Desirée Rumbaugh, Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor.

Her photography evolved to storytelling when she traveled to India to study with Phil Borges, founder of Bridges to Understanding. Volunteers mentored students at Tibetan Children’s Village and recorded their stories using multi-media. Stories are posted on the internet and enable children to connect with other indigenous cultures around the world.

Karen is currently producing a mixed media edition of  her book Therapeutic Yoga. New digital images provide inspiration for healing and enhance visual learning.

Karen Church was born in Canada and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1989 (with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy). She also holds a B.A. in Physical and Health Education with a minor in Sport Psychology from Queens University. She studied Human Movement in 1985 at Carnegie College in Leeds, England.
