Karen Church lives in Glenwood Springs, Colorado where she has a private practice in physical therapy. She is a dedicated yoga practitioner, teacher, and photographer. She recently published the second edition of her book, Therapeutic Yoga.


She has extensive post-graduate training in functional manual therapy and movement re-education. Her system of evaluation and treatment has been strongly influenced by Gregg Johnson and Vicky Saliba Johnson, physical therapists, Institute of Physical Art, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Her interests in alignment and muscle balance led to studying yoga with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga; Desirée Rumbaugh, Certified Anusara Instructor and numerous senior Iyengar teachers.


Karen was born in Canada and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1989 with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy. She also holds a B.A. in Physical and Health Education with a minor in Sport Psychology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She studied Human Movement in 1985 at Carnegie College in Leeds, England.
